Your mind is a powerhouse stirring up thousands of thoughts a day. Some good and some bad which is completely normal. The difference though is how you react to each of the thousands of thoughts that pass through your mind every day. When the negativity comes rushing in do you acknowledge it, act on it or let is pass by like a stranger on a a sidewalk? Let’s work towards creating a healthy and positive mindset.
The negativity is going to show up like an unwelcomed guest on an already stressful day. The good news though, is over time we can condition ourselves to see past the negativity and focus on the positive thoughts. Power of Positive Thinking
It’s a proven fact. What consumes your mind, controls your life. It’s like dieting. If you eat junk food and consume unhealthy calories you can’t expect to feel energized and have a 6 pack of abs. Just like negativity, you can’t speak it, act it out or surround yourself with it and expect to live a positive life. If you focus on the bad, well that’s all you will receive.
I’m pretty sure you have heard mention of the law of attraction previously. The law of attraction is the belief that the universe creates and provides for you that which your thoughts are focused on. Basically it states all thoughts turn into reality at some point. Wow, let that one sink in for a moment…scary right. Unless you think with a positive mindset in which will return positive consequences.
Digging further into thinking positive, it not only rewards your positive consequences. But it also gives off a positive energy, like a glow inside of you. Energy likes to attract energy of the same kind. If you bath in the gloom and focus on the negativity you will forever stay negative. It will always feel as if a dark rain cloud is hovering over your head everywhere you go. On the flipside. The more positive energy you have the more you attract. This brings improvements in all aspects in life leading to the best version of you.
A positive mind takes the imaginable and makes it achievable. I have this quote written down at home and it is so true when it comes to thinking positively. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. And you my friend are made to soar. Your mind is so powerful use it as a tool to better your life and others surrounding you.
How to Think Positive
You’re probably thinking, that sounds great but where do I start. How do I receive the positive energy you speak of. It’s simple, if it all occurs in the mind, let’s start there with thinking positive. Put your optimistic thinking cap on and begin right now. Like any skill or talent, the more you practice the better you become at it. Our mind is like a muscle, you have to train it on a regular basis to strengthen it in a health way.
Cultivate Good Thoughts
Motivation is like bathing and is recommended daily. What you feed your mind is what you get back. Surround yourself with positive vibes to keep the energy and good thoughts streaming on a regular basis. Think of it like a battery, eventually the juice runs out and you have to recharge to keep going. Below are my 3 favorite ways to recharge to keep the goodness flowing.
Quotes are the number one searched word on the internet. You can easily find a good quote to uplift your mood and spike your motivation. Head over to my pinterest to find some of my favorites. Once you find a quote that truly speaks to you, save it and post it everywhere. Currently my bathroom mirror is overtaken by positive quotes. It’s an easy daily reminder to chase after my dreams. It reminds me to keep my head up despite what obstacles may be in my way at the current time or season.
Surround yourself with positive and encouraging quotes. Make sure you see it daily. Place it on your fridge, work space, mirror and make it the background on your phone’s screen. Use it as a pick me up throughout the day.
Positive affirmations are like gold. The more you have the richer your mind is. As mentioned above, you believe and live out what is on your mind. So, fill your mind with good vibes.

When I am in a funk and feeling down I typically turn to media. There is so much on social media. Both good and bad, so make sure you are feeding into the good. Nothing gets me more pumped up than an inspirational book, podcast or magazine article. Strive to start your day on a good note.
Wake up and read a few pages of a motivational book or article. Too busy first thing in the morning? Listen to a podcast while you get ready for the day ahead. The positive energy builds up early on and carries you through the day.
Erasing Negative Thoughts
It’s inevitable, negative thoughts are going to cross your mind. You don’t have to act on them though. Choose to end the thought right than and there. Allow it to pass by and exchange each negative with a positive. Think about it and don’t react immediately. Be conscience of what thoughts are running through your head, acknowledge and let it go. This will take training, but will become natural over time.
If you are reading this, chances are you are already aware of what thoughts run through your head on a daily basis. You may already be aware of what triggers them as well. But how do you erase them? Avoid the triggers, face reality and if you have to, remove yourself from gossip and stop scrolling facebook. I suggest to perform a little self reflection session on yourself. A lot of negativity stems from false speculation that your own mind conjures up. Whatever bad thoughts immediately come to your mind during reflection, write them down on a piece of paper. Then I want you crumble up the piece of paper and throw it away. Physically clear your mind and repeat when needed. Make a vow to yourself to stop the negative self talk, quit the judging and replace each with something positive.
You need to take control of the negative thoughts now. If not they will continue to build up inside of you and cloud your head. You don’t what the dark rain cloud hovering over your head everywhere you go. If not taken care of, the negativity will hold you back. It will not only cause stress and gloom, but also will hold you back from enjoying life. You will miss out on all the good stuff.
Change your Mindset and Attitude
You need to actively train your brain to make a lasting change. It won’t happen over night, but take the steps towards a positive mindset and attitude. Treat your brain as if it were your muscles in the gym. You can’t lift a weight or take just one workout class and expect to see results. Consistently training your brain creates new pathways. These new pathways aid in keeping the negative at bay. Over time, positive thoughts will come about more easily.
Surround yourself with positive company. Feed off of their positive energy to build yourself up. Talk positive, think positive, live positive and the results are endless. Open the shades to your mind and let the light shine in. You my friend can achieve anything when your mind is free and open!
